PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Abiding Savior Lutheran Preschool offers classes for 2˝ year-olds through Pre-K. We provide curriculum that encourages whole-child learning, self-esteem, positive self-concept and social skills. Our young students are grouped according to their maturity and development. Each classroom has an age-appropriate environment, including our multi-age classroom, that provided a family setting in which the children learn from each other, as well as their teacher.

Much of our program is child centered, permitting each child the freedom to act upon his/her own curiosity and ideas within a consistent framework. Research shows that children learn best through play that reflects real actions, tangible objects and direct encounters involving all five senses. Activities are carefully selected to develop the cognitive, physical, creative, social and affective domains.

Children are provided a variety of educational opportunities, including: learning centers to explore, planned activities in art, religion, music, movement, cooking, gardening, nature and much more! Reading, math, history, science and geography skills are developed with the daily curriculum.

Our foundation is based on a constant supply of love and nurturing, a focus on Christ and the fostering of a close family feeling in a carefully appointed classroom “home”. Our student/teacher ratios are low, affording each child individual attention as needed. Enrollment is limited to help achieve these goals. We have a maximum ratio of 9:1 for 4 year-olds, 8:1 for 3 year-olds and 6:1 for 2 ˝ year-olds. Every classroom has a teacher and an assistant.

SPIRITUAL PROGRAM:
In our religion program, children are introduced to the most basic doctrines of the Christian faith and the application of these concepts to everyday life. Through daily Bible lessons, the children learn how Jesus showed His great love for people, and how God cares for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Prayer and worship are part of each day, and Bible themes are integrated throughout the curriculum.

Chapel is held weekly in the sanctuary with our Pastor, and major festivals of the church year are celebrated appropriately.

OUR PROGRAM GOALS:
Our program goals are centered on providing opportunities for learning in all aspects of life as a Christian. We have identified six major areas of a child’s development to use as a guideline in evaluating our program and curriculum. Our overall goal is to create a total learning experience that includes meeting the needs of every child in each of these areas.
